The properties that can be determined are\r\n\u2013 longitudinal tensile strength, and\r\n\u2013 the percentage of final elongation.\r\nMethod A uses, for the test piece(s), a longitudinal strip cut from a tube.\r\nMethod B uses a specific length of the full cross section of the pipe.\r\nMethod A is applicable to pipes with a nominal size of DN 50 or larger with circumferentially wound strands, with or without cut glass and\/or rovings and\/or woven fillers, and to centrifugally cast pipes. It is applicable to helically wound filament tubes with a nominal size of DN 200 or larger.\r\nMethod B is applicable to all types of GRP pipes. It is generally used for pipes with a nominal size up to and including DN 150.\r\nThe results of one method are not necessarily the same as the results derived from any of the alternative methods. However, all methods have the same validity.\r\nAdditional considerations for Method B that have been found useful for testing thin-walled helical pipe are described in Annex A and can be used to supplement the basic text.\r\nNOTE This International Standard does not address the determination of longitudinal tensile modulus. Due to the multi-layer construction of many GRP pipes, accurate measurement of strain, necessary for modulus determination, can be very difficult.
